The objects were layered, leaving small spaces between pieces, 1/4" or so. Tiles and coils were used as spacers and to elevate things.

 

A tiny cup containing salt, red iron oxide, and a copper strip was placed in a high-fired dish that was filled with sand. This vessel was located on the top layer of the saggar.

 

The saggar was then placed in a gas kiln and heat was applied...a bit too fast at first...so the cone data was obliterated. Final temperature inside the saggar was estimated to be around 1800' F (between cone 08 and 07).
