  For this firing, combustibles of organic plant material high in silica were attached to some of the pieces. On this piece, salted horsetail and dried bananas tested a well-known theory.
  A layer on the bottom of the saggar consisted of cedar wood shavings, fine hardwood sawdust, salted oak leaves, and dried maple twigs. Dishes of salt were placed in both the bottom and top areas of the sagger.

  Coloring agents like copper carbonate, copper oxide, and red iron oxide were added to the ceramic objects and/or the combustibles around them. Corn kernels and salted pumpkin seeds were sprinkled throughout.
